Hi from the Land of Enchantment—New Mexico.
The weather is warming here in the high desert (6600 feet) but it always cools off at night so I can enjoy the freshening night air and gazing at the Milky Way with our dark skies. Our historical village is quite and peaceful day or night. My dog, Cubbie and I hike out on the range in the early mornings now. Despite all the wonders and beauty here, I am planning to visit my daughter very soon and travel to Yosemite.
Hi @Judyth Welcome to the THS forum we’re happy you’re here. I wanted to especially welcome you because I am originally from Santa Fe and miss those bright starry night skies you are talking about. How is the search going to find a sitter for Cubbie?and what type of dog is Cubbie and how old (if you know)?
Hi Kelly,
Cubbie is a mixed breed cattle dog about 11 years old. I also have four older cats and three horses.
I have not received any replies concerning a sitter.
I am feeling discouraged.
Judyth

Hi @Judyth
I am sorry to hear you are feeling discouraged. May I ask how exactly you’ve gone about requesting a sitter on the site?
Here are a few good threads below that I think could really help inform you as you look for a sitter. I’ve also added your listing link onto your forum profile here so that other members can take a look and offer advice and suggestions on how to improve your listing.
Judyth, welcome. I was unable to open your listing. I love New Mexico. I’m actually heading to Santa Fe soon for the opera festival. Not on a sit due to the things I have scheduled.
Does your listing mention some detail about the area, what activities might be done with the pets, what things of interest there are that a sitter might do and still not be away too long?
I love a cattle dog! I have a border collie mix myself.
Best of luck connecting to the sitter who suits your needs.
Hi @Lulubelle. The links in new forum member’s profiles are not clickable right away. That’s one of the ways TrustedHousesitters and our platform, Discourse, protect our members against scammers. Once someone has interacted in the community a bit, then their links become clickable.
If you find a link that isn’t clickable, you can copy and paste it into your browser’s address bar. That’s what I did to get to @Judyth’s listing.
I am new to the forum so do not know how to look at your listing. I live in NM and have experience with horses but cannot see what town you are in or what your dates are.
Hi @mam1996t. Welcome to our friendly community here in the forum. I’m glad you found us.
To see a forum member’s listing on the main TrustedHousesitters website:
Click on the person’s username anywhere it’s either bolded or preceded by @. This will pull up their forum profile summary card.
If the member has added a link to their TrustedHousesitters page it will be included in their summary card. If the link is underlined, click on it. That will take you to their TrustedHousesitters page. If the link isn’t underlined, because they’re new to the forum, copy and paste the link into the address bar of a new browser window then hit enter.
I am already booked for those dates, but I looked over your page and have a few suggestions. Maybe mention your place is situated nicely between Las Cruces and Albuquerque and some of the highlights of those areas. Or even how far it is to Silver City. How long can Cubbie be left alone, does he travel well in the car. If someone is going to fly in how would they get from the airport, do you have a car they can use. I am guessing if someone applies from out of state they are most likely going to want to explore. I love NM but many do not know much about it.
I may have saved your post!!! I am always looking for sits from Durango to Santa Fe area as I come home to the southwest once a year for 1-2 months. If your date does not like up I will save it for the future so I can be alerted of new dates! I have asked over and over if there is a way to get on the host register as an interested sitter, but this is the only option.
Hi,
I’m about 2.5 hours south of Santa Fe in the historic village of Magdalena. It may not be as exciting as Santa Fe but it certainly is charming. If you have never been here, you might enjoy it.
