@screenin4achange, welcome back to the THS Forum. You may wish to consider adding your housesit listing to Forum profile. This would enable Forum member to provide targeted advice.

The festive period is a time of extreme excess demand for housesitters. Perhaps a great time to look afresh at your listing and ensure that it shows your best self:

  • photographs are complete and attractive (best cover photo, no clutter, photo of all key rooms)
  • listing title is appropriate for time of year
  • listing content is thorough in terms of pets; pet care; property features; local attractions
  • listing dates are reasonable, from perspective of housesitter
  • listing responsibilities are reasonable

The THS Forum has a ‘last minute sits’ section.

Beyond that, given near-term departure, it seems prudent to consider a Plan B - whether a local paid housesitter or family member or otherwise.

At this point I would get a plan B (one need that also with a sitter for emergencies).

Do you have someone around you that could petsit, for instance a neighbor, colleague, college-kid of someone that want to earn a few bucks and do you a favor/ get their own space?

Or someone that will have guests over the holidays and would like to petsit over the holidays to vacate own bedrooms/ space for relatives or kids coming home from uni? Or need quiet from their family finishing an exam, a report, a thesis? Or are remodeling and would escape contractors and noise? Or someone that usually is co-living and would like some personal space?

Commercial petsitting like kennels, Rover or Pawshake and similar.
