Hello everyone from Oxfordshire, UK.

We’ve been on and off with Trusted housesitters for many years and it’s been wonderful.

We tend to ask people from the UK for our two dogs as the one dog is a bit nervous and it is just easier for her to meet the people once before so we all know it will be ok. (And I can enjoy my holiday!)

I’m not sure what else I’m meant to put here only that we hope to meet some of you going forward. But mostly, our dogs do!

Also thank you for adding your THS profile/listing on here, I have had a peruse and your profile/listing looks great. The only point I would make is on your listing you state sitters need a car. Can this perhaps be removed if there is sufficient transport by other means to your location?
By removing this need for a car you will open your sit up to many more applicants.

UK Owners: reconsider 'Sitters need a car'

I am addressing UK owners only in that public transit is often relatively convenient there, compared to many US locations, for example. The UK also seems to be a location having some difficulty in finding sitters. My comments here are my personal opinion. The tag ‘Sitters need a car’ limits the available pool of sitters. What exactly does “Sitters Need A Car” mean?

A.) The owner requires the sitter to have a car of their own for the sit. B.) It is merely a suggestion for the sitter to be able to get around the location more easily, but not at all mandatory, because public commute isn’t reasonably accessible. And the car can apply to using a taxi or Uber/Lyft too. This is up to the confirmed sitter either way.

Hi @Katie2 I have checked, and your link is correct. Thank you @geoff.hom for your help. Members will have to copy and paste your link into a new tab at first. It’s a Discourse algorithm based on your activity. Essentially, you need to browse through the forum consistently for a bit to ‘unlock’ it. I hope this helps.

Basically the TH forum uses a program called Discourse. Discourse uses something called “trust levels”.
