This Needs Fixing ASAP

When I get a notification on my phone/iPad about a sit I have marked as a “favourite” and I click on that notification, if when it takes me to the App there is something wrong or I have been logged-out then that listing is lost to me, gone, poof into the ether and I can’t see any way to then discover what it was.
Or is that my error?

@Saltrams app has logged me out and won’t accept my details. Something tells me this downtime is major!

Yes @Timshazz there is a major outage but this is something that happens regularly, whether THS is down or not.
I suspect it’s an Apple notification issue, or that is a part of it but THS needs to create a backup option; maybe a Website function that can also show sitters that their favourites have new listings.

On my Samsung phone, clicked on a notification and the App logged me out. Have reinstalled the app, unable to log in, says my credentials don’t exist. Tried on my husband’s Apple phone, cannot log in to the App there either.

This is a regular bug/feature of their app including Android so not limited to you or your iPhone.
You select the notification and rather than going to the search results or the specific sit (depending on what generated the notification) it either does nothing or opens the THS app but shows a blank screen. Either way the notification is gone.
What can help is opening the app first and once open then selecting the notification. It still fails a lot but not as much.

I have had this problem forever. I used to get notifications about favorited sits but clicking them took me nowhere. Now I don’t get notifications at all. The THS app isn’t even on the list for me to turn on notifications. And so I keep missing the opportunity to apply to popular sits. Frustrating to say the least.

I know the tech team is busy. Can you give me/us a rough idea when these inter-related problems will be fixed? (Weeks, months, years?)

  1. Enable my Android to show me notifications when favorited sits and saved searches post new dates.

  2. Enable my Android to select the THS app to show notifications.

  3. When one sees those notifications, correct the bug so that we can click on the notification and then see that particular listing.

  4. Enable me on either the App or desktop to search my favorited sits.

Anyone: If there are workarounds, please let me know.

And, this is a bold request, until these prolonged issues are fixed can Android App users receive a discount on our membership or can the 5 applicant limit be paused for the interim?

It logs me out all of the time, whereas my partner doesn’t have any problems, and we both have iphones just the same. I gave up using the app a while ago as it frustrates me so much to receive a notification but doesn’t remember my login, so I always use a laptop now to look at THS.

Asking again @Ben-ProductManager: I have the THS app installed on my Android but THS is not in my list of apps so I cannot turn on notifications. Please let me know when this will be fixed. It is very frustrating to lose the opportunity to apply for popular sits. I need to receive notifications on my phone. Thank you.

Hi Carla, I am missing out on a lot of opportunities whilst not being alerted to my ‘favourites’
Is there a work around, other than looking at my phone every 5 minutes, whilst this issue is resolved?

@Dawnie Just a follow-up for you, the tech team raised the issue higher up the thread as a bug when it was originally reported (the Android device not showing a THS notification option) and will let me know when it is fixed, thank you for your patience.

It is also worth reaching out to Membership Services at support@trustedhousesitters.com as they can see if this or something else might be an issue with your favourite notifications not being received, especially if you do not use an Andriod device it is likely to be another issue.

This still isn’t fixed, despite me trying all the different options advised by various different people.

Could you please ask membership Services to contact me, as there’s not much point having membership if I can’t see my favourites or saved searches without being glued to my phone 24/7

For years I’ve regularly found myself being logged out of THS for unknown reasons, on my laptop. I pretty much ignore it these days; it’s annoying but it’s been going on forever - sometimes it happens a lot, then things go well again for weeks or months at end

We wanted to provide an update on what’s happening with the Android notification issue/being able to turn them on in the notifications setting.

The great news from the team looking into this is that it’s not affecting every Android user, however, that does not diminish the fact that some of you are still not receiving notifications. This is something that the team understands is important and is continuing to work on and address.
