What Features Would You Like to See on THS?

I have mentioned this before in another subject forum.

Change the 5-application limit on applicants for a house sit to be an owner selectable limit.

It’s very interesting also that the THS app seems post notifications of new housesits before they appear on the website, sometimes up to 5-10 minutes earlier. For a member who uses the website more than the app, can a change be made to make these notifications synched across both platforms.

Yeah, this doesn’t preclude me from applying right away. But if I’m looking for a few sits all at once, it would be helpful.

Would like the ability as a homeowner to have 2 different profiles - we have 2 homes - summer and winter. Currently have to delete one to activate the other. Only one needs to be active at a time but would prefer not to have to delete and add back all the information.

Hello @PicklesStaff and a warm welcome to the Community Forum and it’s lovely to see you participating in this thread and hopefully this is something the Tech team can look in to for you. :wave:t2::slightly_smiling_face:

For reference you can also add your TrustedHousesitters profile on to your Forum profile by following the attached link, should you wish. This will then enable others to offer you helpful advice and feedback and will also give your listing extra exposure!

If you are unsure how to do this, or if you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to ask, we are all more than happy to help.

I have attached a thread below, it would be great if you could join in with this as we think you could offer great feedback and your input would be a great addition

I would like to have a button “not interested in this sit” or “don’t show me this sit again”.
I keep seeing the same sits I already know I won’t apply for.

I would like to see swimming pool added to the search filter and/or amenities :sun_with_face:

I would like to see a “next sit” button at the top right of the sit I am looking at that directs me to the next sit that meets my search criteria. Currently there is the button “back to search results” at the top left (web version). It would be nice to be able to use the “next sit” button to page through the details of all the sits that meet my search criteria without having to go back to the search results each time.

Ok, this may seem like a strange ‘feature’ to ask, but for those sitting in Europe: what other pet-sitting sites beyond Nomador (which is very French) would you recommend?

After becoming a THS member more than 8 years ago, I’ve never bothered to look at other sites, but as others have noted the 5 application limit rule has changed things quite a bit, particularly when you’re not UK based, & without having the ability or desire to spend hours a day on the THS website.

So I’m looking for suggestions of other platforms to join, cause as things currently stand I will be hitting an ‘all time’ low of THS sits since the rule was introduced last year. Thanks!

@Bluehorse - if you use the spyglass at the top of the page you can search for this topic. Hope the following link helps.

the butterflynomad,
I agree. I was never informed regarding the ridiculous five applicant cut off point. This should have been sent out to all mebers both home owners and house sitters, so they would have been given the opportunity to vote on this. The only way I discovered this new policy was through it being mentioned, on the forums after being impicated. I would not have known otherwise. I feel this was brought in by a rather uinderhand method, which is definitely not popular.

I have way too many favorited listings (1600+). It would be great if I could delete all of them with one “Delete ALL” feature.

I have mentioned this before but having reported at least two sits over the last couple of weeks that are advertised as day or evening sits with no overnight stay, today I saw a further two or three similarly advertised. Surely it can’t be that difficult to develop the software to simply disallow any sit that is listed for only one day with a pop up saying “dates not permitted” or similar with a link to an FAQ indicating that THS only permits advertisements for sits which include at least one overnight stay.

@LizBCN excellent idea. The pop up could actually say “Your dates must include an overnight stay”

In addition to DATES add number of days or nights to listings. Other sites do this very helpful. And search should be days not weeks.

I would like the option to NOT receive invitations to sit. I have received several but they are ones I’m not interested in as I mostly sit cats and I seldom sit close to home. But I would like the option when I favorite a location to add that I would welcome an invitation.
I manage it well and always reply asap with a kind note. I don’t want to add to my profile ‘please don’t invite me to sit’ I would rather a ‘This sitter is not excepting invitations’ setting.
Especially since my experience is the HO invites me as they think I’m available because of the not very clear calendar. Mine is currently updated.

@Silversitters That is a great idea. It would have saved me having to read and then decline 90% of the more than 60 responses we’ve received for our current listing. It’s a full time job monitoring and declining to keep the sit listed.

And what about being able to filter for couples or solo sitters.

Excellent!
The same goes for the entire application process.
HOs can send me their listing as a request to sit w/o writing one word to me and they often don’t. Why can’t I send my profile to them to apply with the touch of one button? Pet sitters have to constantly write on a blank page when the HO have to create their listing and Welcome guide once.
The Welcome guide is absolutely mandatory for the success of a sit. Why do Pet sitters have to request it? Once the sit is confirmed it should be available to open.
Plant and garden responsibilities have to be in the original listing. I have been completely surprised by multiple plants and gardens that were not mentioned in the original listing Or the Welcome guide which require hours of time.
Why can HO wrote to me directly but pet sitters have to use one of the 5 precious application spots to contact them?
Overall every aspect of the user experience of the website and app is geared towards the HO.

I just found out when I called the THS vet support hotline that they don’t offer guidance about large animals (I was calling about a donkey). Perhaps with the recent expansion, serious thought could be giving to support us equine sitters, too.

Hi @Edith
Thank you for your comment. I have passed your feedback onto our product team.

I’d love to be able to exclude locations from an “everywhere” search that I can save. For example, I want to sit in any country except the US, England, or Australia. That would help massively to unclog the search results so I can see places I’m more interested in first.
